Materials include the best writings on ethics in mediation and are required reading. World renowned experts have been interviewed on camera to help bring the concepts alive for the learner.

The course is estimated to take approximately 6-8 hours in total (but can be done in small time increments) and is available online 24/7.

Law Society CLE and CEE - Accredited by:

  • Law Society of Upper Canada CPD for 2.0 Professionalism hours and 6.0 Substantive hours. 
  • Law Society of British Columbia: 8 hours.
  • Mediate BC: approved for 8 hours CPD credits for Mediate BC Roster Mediators.
  • Law Society of Alberta: they leave it to their members to determine if the course is relevant to include on their mandatory "CPD Plan".
  • Law Society of Saskatchewan: 8.0 Total hours of which 2.0 qualifies for ethics.
  • Law Society of Manitoba: does not accredit CPD activities.
  • Law Society of New Brunswick: maximum of 8 hours (students must claim actual time spent).
  • Law Society of PEI: members apply based on the number of hours they spent (honour system).
  • Nova Scotia Barrister's Society: do not accredit programs. Members are free to take any program that is relevant to their practice.
  • Law Society of Newfoundland: do not accredit programs. No mandatory requirement.

Mandatory Requirements (for ADR Ontario Members only):

In order to ensure and encourage enhanced professionalism and adherence to best practices, the Ethics Course is mandatory for:

  • new ADRIO members (in addition to 40 hour mandatory training requirements) [Applicants for membership who have not yet completed the course may be granted membership provided they have registered and paid for the next available offering of the course. Membership is conditional on completion of the course.]
  • new members of all ADRIO rosters
  • all members of new or re-called ADRIO rosters
  • ADRIO applicants for all Mediation designations: Qualified Mediator (Q.Med), Chartered Mediator (C.Med) and Certified Family Mediator (Cert.F.Med) [Applicants for C.Med and Q.Med will not be processed until they have completed the Ethics course.]

  • a discount of $25 on renewing your ADRIO FULL MEMBERSHIP fee the year after you take the Course (for ADRIO members only. A discount code will be provided to you at the time of renewal).
  • a 10% discount on insurance premiums through Marsh Canada on their July renewal for members who complete the Course by May 31st; for those who complete after May 31st, the discount would be implemented for the following year's Marsh renewal.
  • Earn 16 CEE points toward your ADRIC Q.Med and C.Med designation maintenance.
